CIO & CISO United Kingdom Virtual Round Table

Date: 17th June, 2021: 2 PM BST

Event Overview

Strategic Priorities and Overcoming Security Challenges in Financial Services Institutions

Financial services institutions (FSI) remain a top target for cybercriminals. In 2020 Financial and Insurance business had 721 incidents, 467 with confirmed data disclosure according to the 2021 Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report. 56% of all attacks were from external actors primarily using credential attacks, phishing or ransomware.

The financial services sector is highly regulated, and governments rightly view their financial institutions and systems as part of their nation’s critical national infrastructure (CNI). Additionally, legislative and compliance responsibilities around cybersecurity risk and posture fall on FSI—this includes building and testing organisational resilience.

During this roundtable, you will have time to discuss with your peers the strategic priorities and security challenges Financial Services Institutions are facing. Matthias Scherf, Senior Security Officer at DZ Bank, will share how they built AI into their cybersecurity strategy. Tim Wade, Technical Director, Office of CTO at Vectra will provide insight into the desired outcomes and the solutions available.
