Imagine what we could do if whole ecosystems could be made cybersafe to new challenges in an "instant"?

Maynooth University and the Open European Network for ENTerprise InnOVation in High Value Manufacturing (ENTOV-HVM) invite EU based manufacturing SMEs to join the proposal for a Horizon 2020 Innovation Action on this journey. Further participants include the renowned VTT Technical Research Centre (Finland), Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Tuke University (Slovakia), the Technical University of Berlin (Germany), the University of Lisbon (Portugal), the University of Padova (Italy) represented by the innovation diffusion accelerator UniSmart (Italy), Riga Technical University (Latvia) and the global enterprise innovation Research group Entovation (USA)

The proposal involves exploring, designing and deploying the democratic, free, anonymous and dezentralized "eGoose" cybersafety app to the complete ecosystems of manufacturing SMEs. While is currently eGoose an aspiration only, we have the technological, ecosystem orchestration and social engineering skills to enable and support the emergence needed.

Cyber Safety Effectiveness for SMEs & MEs

Most SMEs & MEs lack sufficient awareness and can only allocate limited resources - both technical and human - to counter cyber risks, hence they are an easier target (e.g. of ransomware attacks) compared to large organizations. Security professionals and experts working for SME s &MEs need to be in a constant learning process since cybersecurity is a significantly complex and fast-evolving field. Taking into account the significant economic role of SMEs & MEs in the EU, tailored research to innovation should support cybersecurity for SMEs & MEs.“

Our proposal will support enhanced Cyber Safety Effectiveness of “late majority” participants of the extended supply networks of SMEs, MEs and Cyber Safety Solution Providers by democratizing access to and triggering addictive use of tools and solutions of varied sophistication level, to enable them to rapidly benefit from innovative targeted solutions addressing their specific needs and available resources (currently reserved to larger organizations, due to their cost and availability of internal expertise). Furthermore the proposal will develop targeted, user-friendly and cost-effective solutions enabling the participants to: dynamically monitor, forecast and assess their security, privacy and personal data protection risks, become more aware of vulnerabilities, attacks and risks that influence their business, manage and forecast their security, privacy and personal data protection risks in an easy and affordable way, and build on-line collaboration between them, thus enabling them to report any incident and trigger suitable kill-chains.

Outcome – “Cyber Security Eco-System”. The outcome of the action will be a decentralized virtual “Cyber Security Eco-System” at Technology Readiness level (TRL) 7 ("TRL 7 – system prototype demonstration in operational environment."). The eco-system will represent an autopoetic / self-organizing intelligent network of deeply connected “late majority” participants across their extended supply networks. The network continuously renews and recreates itself. It has cognition, perception, and complex responses. Our Action will primarily consist of activities directly aiming at producing a new process aimed at accelerating the deep diffusion of Cyber Safety solutions in high value manufacturing SME and ME supply networks. It will include prototyping, testing, demonstrating and piloting of a relevant TRL 7 solution. The pilot aims to validate the technical and economic viability of the process in an operational (or near to operational) environment. The Action will include limited research and development activities.

2:45 - 3:00 - Open Discussions for SME'S

Curious SMEs will have the opportunity to join the proposal as unfunded Associate Partners. Learn how other manufacturing SME ecosystems are improving their cybersafety effectives FAST during the first year. In the second year all partners will co-design the technology and social engineering for an app based threat notification system for SME manufacturing ecosystems. In the third year manufacturing SME partners will be supported in deploying the solution to their own ecosystems.

After proposal submission on August 27th, 2020 we expect 5-6 months to pass before the funding decision is made (or not). The consortium will slowly launch the project in any case starting September 2020 - funds and resources permitting - since this is just too good to wait for!
